Virtual Tour- Phase 3 (Social Media)

Connecting through Social Media!

Virtual Tours & Social Media: Leveraging Your Experience

This post first ran in our Off the Wall newsletter, when we were helping institutions stay connected with visitors virtually. The offer described below was time-limited, but the ideas still hold up.

Available on Web App and Native App

In an effort to give back to the institutions we are passionate about, we offered 6 months of our Virtual Tour product for a one time cost of $1,500. It was available by Web App, Native App or both*.

You can launch a coordinated campaign between your social media and your app. Highlight a painting on Instagram or Facebook, then have that same item appear as a ‘Highlight’ on your Virtual Tour launch page. It can be updated weekly, daily — even hourly.

Create a Virtual Tour where visitors can view images of your spaces. With our native app, your visitors can even view 360 degree panoramic photos of your museum.

One of our favorite examples came from our partners at the San Diego Museum of Art:

Masterpiece Minute Podcast

This 60-second weekly podcast series lets you in on what’s happening, virtually anyway, at the Museum. Drop-in every Friday at 10 AM for a new episode on the SDMA app or online. (Download their app from the App Store or Google Play)

Create curated tours. How about a ‘Couch Highlights Tour’ featuring your must see items? Or build a themed tour that changes weekly and focuses on themed parts of your collection. Relaunch old audio content and let visitors who weren’t able to experience a special exhibition finally enjoy it.

With our native app, create a social media hashtag and encourage people to take pictures through the app and post on your feeds.
